About the project
As you may be aware already, Kāinga Ora have committed to engaging with communities in the Hibiscus and Bays local board area about the need for public and other types of housing across the area. Due to the scale of the engagement, Kāinga Ora enlisted Community Think, a community development collective to carry out the engagement.
The goal of this engagement is to have a meaningful conversation with local residents about how and where Kāinga Ora can deliver different types of housing to meet the growing demand from people and whānau who want to live in the Hibiscus and Bays area.
The primary role of Kāinga Ora is to provide public housing, but they also administer a range of home ownership products on behalf of the Government to help people into home ownership. Kāinga Ora also rents or leases properties to specialist third-party community group housing providers.
The feedback we gather through this engagement process, along with feedback Kāinga Ora have already received about proposed developments in the area, will help to create a plan that will guide Kāinga Ora development in the Hibiscus and Bays area.
We hope you will support us while we undertake this engagement work and that you will encourage your community networks, friends and whānau to participate in this important conversation about the area’s housing needs.
